Everything we undertake in life carries some level of risk. Trying to avoid danger in our work life is a risk in and of itself. Work too carefully, and we risk losing out on opportunities to grow and flourish, and our careers may suffer as a result. We can't escape danger, but we typically try not to think about it. It's part of what makes living on Earth such an exciting adventure.

The more risk we are willing to take, the greater chance we have of achieving our goals. This is especially true of reaching for the stars. You can't fly a spaceship without any risk, so being able to tolerate risk is essential for space travel. However, even astronauts who live and work in space for months at a time still face dangers such as cosmic radiation and accidently triggered vehicle explosions.

Of course, not all risks are equal. Some things that seem like risks are actually advantages. For example, taking a chance on something new allows us to experience the joy of success or relief from pain when it works out. Also, there are risks involved with many actions we take every day that most people ignore because they're so common. For example, if you walked into your local pharmacy and asked them how many people walk into their stores each year and then shoot themselves, almost everyone would say "not often". But the reality is that this happens quite frequently. In fact, gun violence is the third leading cause of death for adults under 45 years of age.

What does it mean to be risk-averse as opposed to risk-taker?

Attempting to reduce all of the risks of a course of action eliminates the potential that the activity will result in significant change. People who are afraid of taking risks believe that success will come to them. Risk-takers recognize that success necessitates a creative, strategic approach. They know that failure is an option, but so is success. Being risk-averse means avoiding danger or uncertainty because it's thought that something bad will happen.

Risk-taking is about having the courage to try new things, to accept responsibility for your actions, and to act upon what you learn. It can be difficult to take risks sometimes, but only those who do not fear their consequences will ever achieve great things.

In business, it makes sense to be risk-averse. If you choose to go ahead with something even though you're not sure how it will turn out, you could end up with nothing. This is especially true if you're starting a business from scratch. You need proof that the idea has merit before investing your time and money in it. However, some risks are worth taking. For example, if you plan to create a new product or service that no one else is making, you should definitely be willing to take a risk and go for it. Even if you fail, at least you'll know what not to do next time.

In general, the more you know about something, the more risk you can take. For example, if you're going rock climbing and don't want to risk falling, then you should probably not go alone. It's better if there's someone else who knows what they're doing available to help you if you need it.

Even though risk is something that we all have to deal with, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, risk helps us live longer and experience more which is why people love to travel and explore new things.
